6 THE HESPEBIAN for you if you do) and don't care to jeopar dize your life and limbs on the foot-ball field; get your racquet and como out. It is particularly desirable that some of our "co eds" show an interest. You fellows who think foot-ball too brutal, or find the requirements too exacting, what do you say to a cricket club ? Surely drill, tennis and foot-ball doesn't fill the wants of everybody, and if you only knew it, cricketing is about as jolly and interesting as any game in the category of sports. To arms, ye sons of Britain. Let's play cricket! New Officers. The Athletic meeting, held September 2Sth in the chapel, for the sake of electing officers was not such as we might have ex pected, with previous meetings as an index. It was a love feast. The boys had de termined to represent all factions so that there would bo no kicking afterward. They did this and it augurs well for a successful year. Mr. Whipple, who has been active in University athletics for a number of years, was deservedly elected president of the asso ciation by acclamation and returned thanks in a few well-chosen words. The following officers were also elected unanimously: Mr. Wiggens, vice president; Mr. Pollard, secre tary, and Mr. Sedgwick, treasurer. For the Athletic board there were eight candidates: Cameron, Everett, Spooner, Shedd, Pace, Hawksworth, N. 0. Abbott and McNeal. The first four were elected by large majorities. These oifices above men tioned have been filled for a number of years; but according to ll:u new constitution there is an advisory board, which has the power to veto any action of tliG board of control. This new advisory board consists of three of the faculty, three of the alumni, and two students. Chancellor MacLean, Professors Fling and Barbour were chosen from the faculty; John Dixon, lloscoe Pound and Harry Reese from the faculty, and N. C. Abbott and Parmallce from the students. The convention, then, shivering and almost half frozen from cold hastened to adjourn, with about twenty-five dollars in the treasury from membership dues. Foot-Ball Schedule. U. of N. vs. Hastings Y.
