The reduced size of the Hesperian will
forcibly call the attention of all subscribers
to the fact that it is seeing hard times. If
all subscribers who have not already done so
would see to it that their subscription is
paid the hard timos, at least for the Hes
perian, will bo materially alleviated
The U. B. D. 0. have arranged for an
other debate with the Maxwell Club to take
place April 13. The question for debate is:
"Resolved, that President Cleveland was
justified in ordering troops to Chicago during
the late A. R. U. strike" Both sides aro
studying the question and a lively dobato is
expected.
At a business meeting of the Union so
ciety Wednesday afternood, the following
officers wore elected for the spring term:
Katharine Molick, president; S. H. Martin,
vice-president; Annio Prey, recording sec
retary; C. M. Barr, corresponding secretary;
J. P. Cameron, treasurer; H. E. Nowbranch,
critic, N. 0. Abbot, sergeant-at-arms.
March 30, the Republican club of the
State University met and elected the follow
ing officers: J. H. Loin, president; J. W.
Ohitwood, vice-president; S. J. Corey, sec
retary and treasurer: R. S. Baker, historian,
and A. J. Weaver, sergeant-at-arms. The
only fight was over the election of president
and considerable excitement was created over
a sharp discussion of the municipal campaign.
The following has been unanimously
adopted by Company UC," and sent to Cap
tain Beardsloy:
"Whereas, death has taken from you and
from your homo circle your boloved father,
and since we realize that the separation has
caused you sore afiliction,
Therefore, we, the individual members of
