If the OBtiology class continues to kill dogs
at the piesent rate, it will not be long until
we are dogloss.
The Improved Stock Breeders' Associa
tion hold its annual meeting at the Univer
sity last week.
The missionary study class have changed
their hour for meeting to live on Saturdays.
Their are some seventeen in the class.
The soniors are arranging for a bonfire on
class-day eve; presumably the intention is to
give to tho flames caps, gowns, canes, hats,
and ponies.
There was a largo attendance in tho chapel
last Sunday afternoon to hoar Prof. BoBsey's
lecture on "My Understanding of tho First
Chapter of Genesis."
Tho Palladian new members' quartet, com
posed of JMossrs. Taylor, Moore, Hitchman,
and Congdon, promises to bo an attractive
feature in that society.
Tho noonday prayor-meotings of tho Y. M.
0. A. aro now hold in room 10, Univorsity
hall, as this is more convoniont than tho Y.
M. 0. A. room in tho Conservatory for most
of tho students.
Mr. G. A. Steinor, formerly of tho class
'96, loft last week for Salt Lake City. Ho
has gone into business and will no doubt bo
able to give tho Latter Day Saints some
pointers in his lino.
One section of tho public speaking class
discussed tho case of tho Cotnor gravo rob
bers ono day last week. Messrs. Barr and
ShrovQ appeared in behalf of tho state, and
Elmoro and McGuffy for tho defense.
Dr. Gunsaulas has accepted tho invitation
of tho senior clasB to deliver tho commence
ment orhtion. Tho Univorsity luiu enjoyed
many good things this year, but none have
been or will bdmore acceptable than this.
Professors Ward and Wolcott do not in
tend to lot tho bone-man gat ahead them
this year. Tney have converted tho top of
Nobrarka Hall into a bono yard. Thoro
it is that tho spirits of tho loBt purps moan
over their bleaching skeletons.
The contest between the Maxwell Club
and tho Union Boys Debating Club took
place Saturday evening in Union Hall. The
following were tho contestants : Maxwell
Club Sroman, Menzer, Rogers and Kon
yon; Unions Bishop, Barr, Hoogland and
McNcal.
Tho English Club mot February 23, in
room 29. Tho room looked as if some fairy
had waved her wand over it. The program
consisted of two excellent papers by Miss
Brunor and Mr. Abbott, after which tho
club was agreeably surprised by being served
to lemonade and wafors.
April Oth, tho Union boys aro going out
to Wosloyan Univorsity to debate tho ques
tion, "Resolved, that tho spoil system is tho
principal cause of our political corruption."
Tho delegates from tho Uni. will bo Lunn,
McGulfy, Nowbranch and Abbott. Our
boys aro to have tho negative side of tho
question.

M. 0. A. and Y. W. 0. A. hold thoir semi
annual reception at the Univorsity Conserva
tory of Music. In. tho oarlior part of the
evening collogo songs woro Bung; later,
Miss Perkins favored tho company with sev
eral fine piano solos. Unique souvonirs
woro distributed among tho throe hundred
guests.
Ono of tho most enjoyable programs of
tho season was givon by tho Palladian
Society Friday evening. It was tho now
mombors this time and thov had formed
themselves into a senate of the yoar 2003.
Everybody saw the force of affair whon
nothing but skirts and bonnets greeted us;
a woman oven occupiod tho chair. May wo
hope tho prophecy was wrong.
Washington's birthday was celebrated
very fittingly with a short address by Mr.
A. W. Jeffries of Omaha. Ho came hero
under tho auspices of 'the Omaha club who
thus dosirod to emphasize thoir fidelity to
tho State Univorsity. Mr. Jeffries spoke
