Prof. House was not able to attend his classes the early part of the week. Miss Johnson, formerly of the class- of '94, is visiting friends in the city. Lieut. Pershing and sister, from Texas, aro hero for a visit of a couple of weeks. Miss Treat is in the city. She is thinking of resuming her work in the University. "No Nkhkaskan this week. (Editor's flunked.)" As if we didn't know it, Riley! Miss Wort returned from Peru, to take up her work with the beginning of the semester. A number of classes were excused last Monday at 5 o'clock, on account of faculty meeting. Mrs. Ohas. Cathor, of Red Cloud, was visiting her daughter, Willa, for a few days last week. H. S. Lord, '93, is spending a few days at the University. JMr. Lord has been at Fort Custer, Mont., with a surveying party. Feb. 8 the Delians had a Holmes pro gram. One of the pleasing features of the evening was a debate upon the merits of the University cavalry. Geo. Campen, an old U. of N. student, was married at Hillsdale, Mich., during the Xmas holidays. He is at present deputy city engineer of Lincoln. Will 0. Hall, assistant in the zoological laboratory, has been compelled to leave school oii account of poor health. Mr'. Orr takes his place in the laboratory. ' The reception held at Prof. Caldwell's, shortly before the examinations, wasin.cvery way delightful, and will long continue to bo a pleasant memory to those present. Many University professors and students attended the Mendelssohn anniversary exer-' cises, given by the University Conservatory at tho Universalist Church, Sunday, Fdb. 3. A meeting of the Omaha Club was held Wednesday afternoon. A committee was appointed to confer with the chancellor and offer the assistance of the club in securing legislation favorable to tho University. Tho students of the medical association had a social gathering Fob. 1, at the homo of Miss Horn. The meeting was held in honor of Air. U. C. Hall, who has boon" obliged to stop school. Tho Unions wore anxious not to be' out done, so that Saturday night tho irate street car driver had another body of students to take out to Oak creek, in spito of tho fact that ho had sworn "He'd never do so any more i Examinations are bad for tho best of us, and, to say tho least, are very uncomforta ble, unless one is blessed with a contented spirit. Friday, Fob. 1, the Palladians and Deli ans had a skating party in place of the or dinary literary programs. Everyone en joyed their skate, though some fow had a sad time finding tho ice. It is surprising how students will climb up perpendicular banks, jump ditchcB and wade snowdrifts for a fow minutes skating.
