TT -i til io THE HE Chancellor Canfield addressed the law stu dents Wednesday evening. Grinnell beat the, Pastime Athletic club of St. Louis by a score of 12-0. Miss Alma Hosic was called home last week by the death 'of her neice. The Co-operative Book Co. will put in lockers for the use of the students. Dave Mercer is making a hard campaign for congress in the Second district. The Y. W. and V. M. C. A. held a joint meeting Sunday the twenty-eighth. Miss Weston af Beatrice, a former student, is taking music at the conservatory. Miss Whitley of Yorkshire, England, visit ed Miss Frankish the latter part of last week. A limined lot of ladies' fine "sample shoes, 2's to3's B, C, D and E lasts, to close Rumors are afloat to the effect that the Sophomore class are soon to have a reception. G. F. Hall wascalled home the beginning of last week by the illness of his grandmother. The second Preps held a social last Satur day evening in one of the lodge rooms down town. " . Dr. Southerland, president of the Grand Island college, visited the university last week. Miss Selma Swa'nson has been to her home at Verona, Neb. to attend the wedding of her cousin. The Chancellor announces that hereafter political meetings in the university are strict ly for students. Mr. Art. Brown, from Fremont, cahie over to see the Abbott boys and take in the foot-ball game. Prof. White gave his classes a "Jay off" a few days ago, owing to his being called to Omaha on business. The Volenteer band conducted seven mis sionary meetings the twenty-eight in the young people's societies. Mr. Avery who was an instructor in the chemical department last year, is now a student at Heidelberg, Germany. Miss Bell intends to go home the second. A good many are going home to vote. . We presume Miss Bell is of that number. The New Science Review is another periodi cal. It is what it is reported to be a miscel lany of modern thought and discovery. Students who have rooms or take meals in the conservatory are strong in their commen dations of the management of that institu tion. Lady students get 10 per cent discount on all shoes at the Raquet store, 1016 P street. Miss Fannie Woods, a former member of the class of '96 is to be married at her home in Lincoln Nov. I. A Mr. Granger is the happy man. C. D. Warner, of the class of '96, vyent home for a few "days to be present at the wedding of his sister. He returned to school duties the 29th. Miss Mary Tremame after spending some time sight-seeing in London and other' parts of England, and in Paris, is now at Oxford busy with her studies. Go to Westerfield's barber shop.
