Ilfr, THE HESPERIAN 13 '93. Henry Lord and Chas. Stroman, both of Ulysses, heartily enjoyed their late visit to the University. J. N. Drydon and wife, formerly mem bers of the class of '84, wore here during the Charter Day celebration. '90. L. H. Stoughton has returned from Harvard University and is now preaching in the western part of the state. '92. T. F. A. Williams, the "youngster" that attended the Alumni banquet, gave the most brilliant toast of the evening. -'91. Miss Rose Collins, who is having excellent success as teacher in the Fremont schools, was a visitor Charter Day. Miss Cora Smith of the class of '94 who was forced to leave school for her health is now in California and is reported to bo much bettor. '85. E. J. Churchill, who is one of the leading lawyers of Cheyenne, Wyo., was hero to greet friends whom ho had not seen for years. '90. Mr. L. H. Stoughton, recently of the Harvard ministerial school, stopped in Lincoln on his way to his pastorate in the northern part of the state. '81. John H. Silvernail, assistant super intendent of the Nebraska Industrial School at Kearnev, came down to meet old friends and to renew acquaintances. '93. T. E. Wing has returned from Spoarfish, South Dakota, where ho has been employed for the last three months. He expects to remain in Lincoln for awhile. Claire Metcalf, formerly of '95, but now of the University of Minnesota, was com pelled to come homo on account of sickness. Ho will remain for about two weeks and then will return to continue his studies. '88. Mr. Jared Smith at present connected with Shaw's Botanical Garden s of St. Louis, was homo to attend Charter Day ex ercises and cheer the hearts of his brother bot. sems'. He read a paper at the "con vocation of the botanicals" February 17. LOCAL. Miss Boose was in Detroit hist week. Miss Katharine Weston spent Saturday and Sunday in Beatrice. Miss Fifor was ill for three weeks with pneumonia, but has returned to school. Miss Kate Wilder entertained the faculty dancing club at the Junior Promenade. The membei'3 of the Palladian Society discussed the "Income tax" Friday evening. H. G-. .Barber went to Ashland last week whore ho delivered a lecture on Entomology. Miss Annie Treat went home for a short visit Saturday returning to school Monday. Miss Paddock and MacDuvell enter tained their friends at the Conservatory of Music. Miss Martha Burks spent Sabbath at her homo 'in Beatrice, returning to her Univer sity work Monday morning. Some of our Charter Day decorations will remain in a few of the departments as mementoes of the occasion. The class of '98 framed resolutions of regret at the death. of .Mr. Dayton, which they sent to the collogo and city press. Miss Wheeler, Mr. Teole and Mr. Pollard went to Ashland Saturday evening to act as judges at a declamatory contest there. Mr. R. P. Toele goes to. Ashland Friday afternoon for the purpose of acting as a. judge at a declamatory contest at that place. The senior "Laws" are congratulating themselves over the fact that they will not have to road their Thesis in chapel this year. Misses Boose and Loughridgo; Messrs Tucker and Axling left last week for Detroit to attend the World's Yolunceer Missionary Convention. Miss Minnie Nichols, of Lako'Gonova, Wis.-, is a guest of her cousin, Prof. F. W. Taylor. She is returning from an extended tour on the Pacific coast. i J b
