Dr.' White-, tho successor of Prof. Frank
fortor, nrrivod on tho 2d. Tho doctor is a
graduate of Johns Hopkins University, and
comes horo very highly recommended.
Prof. Nicholson loft for Florida Decem
ber 14. Tho professor has boon ill for
sometime and his doctors decided that a
change of climato was necessary for his re
covery. Tho coming social events of tho year are
tho monthly social gatherings of the first
props and tho junior banquet. The preps
will soon petition tho faculty for credit in
this line. t-
Tho hissing of Judge Hastings the other
day by tho academic students, who were
studying in chapel, was simply accidental
and not intentional, as some of tho students
seem to think.
The Palladians gave a very successful
musicalo Friday evening, the 8th. Since
their hall would not hold the crowd, the
Delians kindly consented to give them the
chapel, which was nearly filled.
The new uniforms have arrived. Lieut.
Pershing is untiring in his efforts to improve
the battalion. This time it is the letters,
"U. N." in white on the collars of the coats.
Hereafter, we can be distinguished from the
numerous Normal school "soldiers" of this
vicinity.
If you have any time to spare just step
over to the historical library rooms and hunt
up your autograph in the big book that you
scrawled in at tho Nebraska building before
tho fair was over. There are five immenf
registers, and if you don't happen to remem
ber tho day you signed your name, you'll
never be able to prove that you attended the
big show.
The meeting of tho foot-ball team recently
o hold resulted, after several ballots and con
siderable excitement, in tho election of Dern
as captain of the team for tho ensuing season.
He undoubtedly did splendid work as one of
the lino men in the recent games, and with
tho hearty co-operation of all interested in
foot-ball ho can bo .rolled upon to do his
part in "pushing" hard to gain tho pennant
for tho University next fall.
