EDITORIAL NOTES.
If the change can be conveniently made, we
suggest that the library be opened Saturday evenings
instead of Friday evenings.
In another column of this papec, we publish a
reply to an editorial that appeared in the last issue
concerning the new course of instruction. Space
forbids further notice of the subject in this issue.
The Scientific Club is to be congratulated for
securing Professor Snow to deliver a lecture on
'Evolution", Friday evening, December x8. The
students should show their appreciation by attending
en masse.
It is hoped that the students will take more pride
in the appearance of the halls than they do. To be
sure they present a more respectable appearance than
of yore. The tobacco chewer has removed his abode
from the halls to the campus, but the peanut crank is
still on deck. There are a great many visitors who
would have a better impression of the university if
the halls were not strewn with bits of paper and nut
shells.
We wish to call special attention to The Hes
perian election to be held immediately after the
opening of school for the winter term. It may,
perhaps, be out of place for any of the present board
to make any suggestion concerning the succeeding
board, but the following suggestion is made, and it
may be taken for what it is worth. Our suggestion
is that the girls have one or more representatives on
the next board of editors. That such a change would
be politic can not be disputed. That it would be an
improvement is evident. Then why not make the
change?
We believe that the constitution of The Hes
perian Association should be changed so that the
editorial staff may be elected at the beginning of the
fall term instead of at the beginning of the' winter
term. This proposed change may not be approved
by all the members of the association, but we believe
that it is for the best interests of The Hesperian
that such a change should be made. According to
the present method there are, practically, two editorial
boards initiated each year, one at the beginning of
the year, the other at the beginning of the fall tenn.
