EDITORIAL NOTES.
The Hesperian is indebted to Hoscoc Pound for
the report of the football game between the state uni
versities of Iowa and Nebraska. We take this oppor
tunity to tender him our best thanks.
It is currently reported that Mr. David Rowc,
the widely known base ball manager, has made a
proposition to the athletic association to talce the
football team to Denver for a game with a club rep
resenting the school of Mines. The Hesperian sin
cerly hopes that some suitable arrangements can be
made whereby a game may be played with our wes
tern neighbors.
The electrical engineering course is undeigoing
a complete and radical change. As soon as the dyn
amo house is completed, it will be filled with stan
dard electrical apparatus, thus enabling the instruct
ors to give an increased amount of practical instruc
tion. Dr. Brace is busily engaged in planning and
arranging for his new course, which is not, as yet,
completely established. A full account of the changes
will be given later.
The students surely appreciated the "painful"
announcement that there would be no school Fri
day, November 27. This act made it possible to
observe Thanksgiving properly. Many, who live
out of town, gathero-J around the paternal hearth, ate
turkey and cranberry sauce, cracked nuts, told stories,
and performed such other ceremonies as are common
to Thanksgiving day. Many others appropriately
celebrated the day at Omaha and Council Bluffs
cheering for the U. of N. and yelling for the 'varsitv
football team.
The athletic association, and indeed every stu
dent in the university who is at all interested in ath
letic matters, are Jhighly gratified at the hearty co-op-peration
of the faculty in putting the affairs of the
association in a prosperous condition. Perhaps the
heartiest, or at least the most practical assistance yet
rendered was the offer of the musical department to
give a musical concert for the benefit of the associa
tion. Of course, such a generous offer was enthusi
astically accepted, and elaborate arrangements are
being made for the recital. Mr. and Mrs. Mcnzen
dorfs' reputation as musicians, and the high stan-
