The zoological library has just re
ceived a copy of the Microscopy of
Drinking Water, by G. C. Whipple; di
rector of tho Mount Prospect labora
tory of the Brooklyn water works, and
the leading limnobiologist of the coun
try. He refers many times to the work
done by Professor Ward and his stu
dents on 1he biology of lakes and lake
fauna, and says that the Plankton
pump recently devised nt the zologi
cal laboratory seems to re a decided

An amusing episode connected with
the junior-senior hnt controversy, is re
lated by several seniors with much
satisfactory. A certain junior had
"faked" a senior hnt and had been giv
en unrtil 2 o'clock Wednesday to re
turn it to the owner in the library.
As the time drew near the confident
senior took his eat in the rending
room surrounded by a coterie of ad
mirers and waited the coming of his
hat. A't 2 exactly the said junior ap
peared and delivered the hat in per
fect order, much to the amusement of
the onlookers,
Among the new features of Y. M. C.
A. work during the next year will be
committeeman's conferences, which
will be held at stated times during the
year. The first conference will be held
Saturday, April 22, at 4:30 o'clock in
the Y. M. C. A. rooms. The following
topics will be discussed: "Organiza
tion and Development of a Commit
tee." by C. .7. Allen; "Bible Study," by
.7. L. Sheldon; "General Helpfulness,"
by Ij. .7. Marsh; "The Committeeman,"
by .7. S. Moore. Papers will be reaa
on the above subjects and a general
discussion will follow. One of the fea
tures of this conference is that supper
will be served in the Y. M. C. A. rooms.
