Y. M. C. A. ENTERTAINMENT.
Last Tuesday evening the Y. M.
C.
A. gave an entertainment in the chap
el, the proceeds of which went toward
tilting up the new room in the base-
incnt of the Main building that was
recently allotted to them by the board '
of regents. A moderately large audi- I
ence was present, the lower floor be
ing comfortably tilled, with many in J
tiie balcony besides. For the most
part, the numbers were of a higb '
standard and were well received. Near- I
ly nil were considered sufficiently
good for an encore. In the competi
tive military drill at the close Ser- I
geant E. A. Pearse of Company A was
given the decision as the best drilled
man. The judges were Captain lias
tie. Captain Stebbins and Lieutenant
brown.
Those upon the program deserving
especial mention were Miss Vera Wat
tles, in a reading "Making Them Feel
at Home," Miss Maude Oakley in a
vocal solo, "Swallows," and a reading
by Miss Crawford of the school of ora
tory. The Tolyn quartet also ren
dered an excellent number and encore.
The club swinging of Joel Stebbins
called forth repeated applause after
each difficult feat. Miss Belle Warner
again appeared in a vocal solo. The
program complete was as follows:
"Mystery" Mansion
