ATHLETIC BOARD MEKT1NG.
At a meeting of tho Athletic board held
Mcnday afternoon tho following lnteruol
lcglato rules were adopted. These are
the same rules adopted last fall by Wis
consin, Minnesota, Michigan, Northwest
cm, Chicago and others.
1. No one shall participate In any Inter
collegiate game or athletic sport unless
he bo a bona fide student doing full work
in h regular or special course, as defined
in tho curriculum of his collego; and no
pun.on who has participated In any Inter
eollt".iito gamo as a member of any col
JeKn tt-am shall bo permitted to partici
pate in any gamo as a member of an
other collego team until ho has been a
matrloulant In such collego under the
nbovu conditions for a period of ono year
or 1'uh obtained a collego academic de
gree. 2. No person shall bo admitted to any
Intercollegiate contest who has received
any gift, remuneration or pay for his
services on tho collego team
3. No student shall play upon the team
of any other collego or colleges for more
four years In aggregate unless he shall
hav secured a degree, In which case ho
muy play two additional years, provided
ho 1m a candidate for a second degree.
4. No student shall participate In any
intercollegiate contest who has ever used
or la using his knowledge of athletics or
his athletic skllf for gain. This rule shall
bo operative after October, 1890. No per
son who receives any compensation from
tho university for services rendored by
way f regular Instruction shall bo al
lowed to play on any team. This rule
shall take effect December 1, 1890.
5. No student shall play in any gam
under an assumed name.
C. No student shall bo pormltted to
participate In any Intercollegiate contest
who la found by thn faculty to b de
linquent in his studies.
7. All intercollegiate games shall bo
played on grounds either owned or un
der tho Immediate control of ono or both
of tho colleges participating In tho con
test, and all Intorcolloglato games shall
bo played undor studont or collego man
agement, and not under tho control of
any corporation or association on private
Individual. (

An amusing Incident happened In the
Chicago depot. As tho team limped pain
fully toward tho train an old lady who
had been watching tho boys with tears
In her oyea, turned to Robinson whom
she mistook for a guide and askcd,"What

young men to." And It was a natural
question. Friel, Cowgill, Gordon, Crolgh,
and Pace, all walked as If their limbs
wero wooden to tho hips. Reeder had a
spiked foot. Benedict was nursing a
cramped stomach, and a split finger. Kln
dlor had looked at tho great sights of
Chicago until ho was dizzy. In fact
Packard was tho only wholo man, and
tho old lady thought ho had tho dropsey.
Tho great surprise of tho trip was tho
poor success of our favorites, Crelgh and
Klndler at the bat, and tho splendid bat
ting of Eddlo Gordon who has bean a
weak batter heretofore
The players wero treated like princes
at Notro Dome, and were pleasantly en
tertained at other places
Tho management announces that the
trip was a complete success financially.
This Is particularly gratifying Just at
this moment when news reaches us that
several collego teams are being stranded
far, far from home.
