work has been falling off on account of
tho pleasant evenings which have kept
children out dootv. This work will proba
bly have to be dropind with tho exception
of the sewing school and one class of
young ladles In English. Miss Schwartz
and Messrs. Meier and Gutlelben have re
signed their Gorman classes. Miss Wal
lace bas taken charge of some German
classes on Monday and Wednesday, form
erly taught by Mr. Gutlelben. Mr. Lango

ber of books and periodicals are kept in
constant circulation, while much reading
matter In both German nnd English has
been freely distributed among the homes

manifest by reason of this distribution.

THE POSTER PARTY.
A most delightful as well as novel en
tertainment was a poster party given by
the members of the Kappa Kappa Gam
ma sorority Saturday ovenlng, March 27,
for tho benctll of the college settlement.
A number of different methods of rais
ing money for tbo support of the settle
ment have boon employed during the year
but perhaps none have met with grontor
success than this last entertainment. Af
ter all expenses were paid, twenty-two
dollars and fifty cents was banded to the
committee on college settlement funds.
About twenty-live numbers made up the
program, these wore tableaux, represent
ing different advertisements, and maga
zines. Several musical number varied
tbo program. Vocal solos were rendered
by Mtsaos Griggs, Eleanor Raymond, Jes
sie Lansing and llesste Turner; Instru
mental by Misses Rlsser and Colson, and
a violin solo by Edith Schwartz.
