TEACHERS' COURSE. Report of tho committee on teuchcre' course: The aim of thla c-'irso Is to offer un opportunity to all those regular Btudents who may inltoncl to on ten tho profession of itwichliitf, and who nmy wish during their college course, by special and pro fosaloniil study, to prepare for posi tions of supervision and teaching In do parments of higher education. Ttnlso offers nn opportunity for a largo body of qualified touchers who wish lo Increase Uholr elllcloncy by a inoro ex tondl scholarship and a more sys tematic tttudy of education, but who do not pco their wny to spend more than one or itwo years nit present. All regular students will receive tho university oachors' certificate with their bachelor's degree, provided they have completed tho requirements of this course us outlined below, and have shown such marked prolkvloncy In tho fpeclnl and professional subjects as td qualify them for successful teaching. The university teachers' certificate will be granted t"o such students only as have compiled with tiho requirements of tho course and receive either a bachel or's or higher degree from the univer sity. Others completing the course will receive a stoltemonit of tho fact, and be given proper credit for the work toward a degree. R13QUIKEMENTS. Tho course covers two years' work, or a total of thirteen university courses, to be divided as follows: (a) Special Knowledge. The comple tion of work amounting normally to five university courses in a subjeat or group of closely allied subjects which the stu dent expects to teach. Tho ultimate decision as to the group of subjects and the student's proficiency resting with tho head of tho department most directly concerned. The above work will Include some In struction by the department with refer once to tihe teaching of these subjects in the secondary schools. I . (b) Professional Knowledge.
