stand in the same 1 elation to their Alma
Mater as do the members of the foot ball
team. Much, of couie, practices to lie
come proficient in his line, but the ulti
mate end is the gloiy of the University

should be as careful to attend drill as the

ery spectator was not greatly impressed

Rifles is au organization which isaciedit
to the Military depaitinent nud the Uni
versity. At thepiesent time there is
not much gloiy in attending prncticc
once a week Yet there will be times
when the Pershing Rifles enn be called
out on "dress parade," and it is for such
times that they should be prepared.
Their participation in the war song con
cert last spring was the feature of that
entertainment. Their exhibition drill
Charter day was witnessed by many out
side of the University who previously
had but n vague idea of the work of our
Military department
During the excitement of the foot ball
season much of the interest of the fac
ulty and students hns been diverted from
affairs military, yet everyone has an eye
on the Pershing Rifles. Everyone
prais.es their efficiency. If tiny nre not
tendered banquets and ridden on the
shoulders of an enthusiastic crowd it is
not bt cause they are not deserving of
the honor. Keep at the woik steadily
boys our efforts are being appreciated
if the appreciation is not demonstrated

The Students' Athlotio Association
