Thk members of the Pershing Rifles stand in the same 1 elation to their Alma Mater as do the members of the foot ball team. Much, of couie, practices to lie come proficient in his line, but the ulti mate end is the gloiy of the University We think that members ofthis company should be as careful to attend drill as the foot ball players do piactice. The gall ery spectator was not greatly impressed by ihe number who participated in the I'ershiiig Rifles' drill Inst Thursday nigltl, hui.'Uy 11101 c than halt the com pany being represented. The Pershing Rifles is au organization which isaciedit to the Military depaitinent nud the Uni versity. At thepiesent time there is not much gloiy in attending prncticc once a week Yet there will be times when the Pershing Rifles enn be called out on "dress parade," and it is for such times that they should be prepared. Their participation in the war song con cert last spring was the feature of that entertainment. Their exhibition drill Charter day was witnessed by many out side of the University who previously had but n vague idea of the work of our Military department During the excitement of the foot ball season much of the interest of the fac ulty and students hns been diverted from affairs military, yet everyone has an eye on the Pershing Rifles. Everyone prais.es their efficiency. If tiny nre not tendered banquets and ridden on the shoulders of an enthusiastic crowd it is not bt cause they are not deserving of the honor.
