Lack of harmony among the mem bers, scarcity of material, and above all, no competent leader, have handicapped the club. From now on tho boys will practice six" nights in a week. Sioveking's Recital. The second artists' recital was given by Mr. Martinus Siovcking assisted by Miss Susio Scholield in tho chapel of tho University on Wednesday evening. Tho chapel was comfortably lillcd at an early hour. Tho propram as published in last week's Nebkaskan was car ried out with tho exception of two encores. Mr. Sievoking was in excellent trim and captured his audience as soon as his hands touch l tho piano. His selections were admirably well chosen to show to good advantage the wonderful mastory ho possesses over alt tho shades of passion and and tenderness. In Aso's Death ho showed a great depth of tenderness. One felt tho awf ulncss of a hopeless sorrow, the bitterness of a deepidespair as the great volumo of Hplcnin sounds came irom mc piano. In Antitra's dunce which is a light tripping selection, Mr. Sieve king showed a splendid technique. This selection was woll received because of its pretty simplicity. The duet "Danse Macabre" by Miss Scholield mid Mr. Sievking was a roinurkublo performance. Great lire and pulsion was dis played and on being recalled they repeated the selection. Tho lire scene from the Gottcr dammcruug was tho jem of tho evening. It is a bowilderingly beautiful selection and handled only as an artist could handle it. Without a doubt there is no pianist in this country whoso stylo is so liko tho great Paderewski. The people of Lincoln are most highly honored in having in their midst such an accomplished musi cian as Mr. Sievoking and it is to bo hoped that he may bo hero often. W. R. D.
