Algornon Prottyf jico niul Eleanor
Lilylocks nttondod tlio llorticult
urul exhibit in Nebraska Hull.
Thoy looked at the tempting ap
ples and read all tho signs and
had a good lime. They got bo
hind tho tall palms and squeezed
each other's hands and looked into
each others oyes "with the fondest
looks. Algernon woro a largo
ulster with capacious pockets and
Eleanor had on a cloak with
pockets of a good capacity. Thoy
wandered about tho placo aim
lessly for a considerable time and
then thoy started for tho door.
They had forgot Ion their dis
tended pockets and both started to
go through tho door at tho same
time, when thoy became wedged
securely in tho door by reason of
their well-filled pockoU and could
not extricate themselves until a
guard camo and unloaded Alger
non's pockets. As the large red
apples were taken out ono by one,
Algernon's face -turned as red as
tho rosy apples. Eleanor tossed
hor head and remarked that she
would not have anything to do with
an apple thiol and as she passed
grandly down tho hall of tho build
ing, her cloak pockets looked like
largo saddlo bags they were so
lull ot apples, boon at tor how
ever Algernon and Eleanor were
scon eating from the same large
apple out in tho shade of a pine
tree on the campus. A smile of
jor was on Algernon's face and
the dove of peace had spread his
while wings above the loving
couple. W. R. D.

Oil! that sho would deign to speak
That her lips might touch this cheok!

That surges in my breast?
Oh! that her bright oyes would glance

It might still this wild unrest
That surges in my breast!
Oh! that her soft hand might press
Hand of mino in shy caress.
Could it still this wild unrest
That surges in my breast?
Oh! 'twero worth both life and death
To fool upon my cheek her breath!
It could still this wild unrest

Their Wedding Trip.
(CONTINUED.)
Xever a day was fairer than the
day which dawned on the marriage
of i'atriquo Dolan and Mercedes
McQuinlc.
They left tho ollice of the justice
of the peace united. But alas, no
shower of rice or storm of antiquat
ed shoes greeted their departure.
For they were married without the
isent of Mercedes' parents. But
.& did not mar their happiness a
tie. They wandered down the
boulevard to the car track loading
to Lincoln. They boarded the car
and their wedding trip had begun.
We will leave iliem on their trip
and not dwell on their arril val safely
at Western Xormai. They started
back to Lincoln again and got
transfers from the conductor. Jjut
when they reached tho city, Merce
des insisted on walking down the
street and looking into the show
windows. While they were thus
occupied, they did not think how
time was Hying until the' came to
a jeweler's window, when to their
amazement they saw that it was
two hours after the time when they
should have taken the transfer.
"Too late!" gasped Patriqne. The
had indeed missed the transfer and
now nothing remained but to walk
home.
They were in disnair. Neither
had any money. They knew no
one of whom they could borrow
any. .Sadly they roamed the streets
The sun was low in the west. The'
wore hungry. Patriqne tried to
steal a peanut but the big mouthed
Italian rushed at him so fiercely
that he dropped it. He told Merce
des that it Avas hot, any way.
Suddenly a light came upon the
face of Mercedes. "See!" she
cried. "There is the street! See!"
The remainder of this highly in
teresting and instructive tale will
be fond in our next number, for
sale by all news dealers or sent on
receipt of price by Tiik Nkhuas
