The team Inst year was composed ol men, no two of
whom had the same kind of suits. A collection had
to be taken each day in order to buy balls, and it was
generally the players themselves who furnished the
money.
An effort will be made to secure the Armory one
hour each day, during which time the team anil candi
dates may have its exclusive use for indoor practice.
The season is not long as it is, and the team should be
in the best of shape the first day the weather will per
mit them to practice outside. Hut the team, alone and
unassisted, can do nothing. They must have a decent
field, suitable suits, and above all a half-dozen base
balls with which to practice This material should be
furnished before the season opens in order to obtain
any results at all.
Arrangements have been almost completed for a
southern trip to play the Kansas and Missouri state
universities on their home grounds. An effort will be
made to play Iowa, Minnesota, and Grinnel on their
grounds, and several teams in Nebraska are anxious to
meet us cither in Lincoln or in their own towns. A
western tour to Butte and Salt Lake City could be ar
ranged, and probably will be. It would be no trouble
to arrange plenty ol games both in Lincoln and abroad.
There is some talk of a Western Inter-Collegiate
base ball association, composed of the same states as
are in the foot ball leagues.
If we wish to have a good team let every man who
plays ball come out and practice, and those who do
not can assist materially in more ways than one. The
team cannot in itself do anything, but with the assist
ance of the student body can be made the best team
in the west.
At a meeting of the team which was held December
13th, I Iarvey lleald was unanimously elected captain.
