SOMETHING AWFUL.
The Union Society Prepares an
Extraordinary Program.
The Unions promise to have
something wild nnd wooly next
Friday evening. There is to bo a
special program consisting of a
story composed by Miss Pound,
Abbott, Miss Morgan, Shrove, and
Newbranch. Each one writes a
chapter, and is not supposed to
know what is in the preceding
one.
Of what sort it is the public is
not supposed to know but dark
and ill-boding tales have omanatod
from that littlo.jinnex to Prof.
Barber's Latin room where tho
surroundings are sufficiently awful
to give rise to tho most harrowing
of tales.
Terrible descriptions are rife of
a house (haunted, of course,) in a
deep wood, twelve o'clock mid
night, lone traveler, etc. Then
there is a small bQy with twenty
three cents; rich old farmer with

a nrolty daughter, suspicious man,
bridge over a rushing torrent, dis
couiaged man standing ready to
plunge in. with the boy a si eon on
a neighboring door step. Phis
comprises the material for one of
tho most startling novelettes ever
written.
The truth of tho above cannot be
vouched for but such things have
been hoard in whispers about the
hall
Each composer is to read his
part of the story to the audience,
the intervals between the chapters
being occupied by the rendering of
some slow music. "Whether the
boy grows up, and dies nobly on
the foot ball Held or marries the
pretty girl, can hardly be con
jectured, but the public is invite 1
to come find hear this wonderful
story itself.
THAT OMAHA EXCURSION.
Active Preparations Have
Been Started and Suc
cess Assured.
Preparations for the Students'
excursion to Omaha, Thanksgiving,
are progressing rapidly under the
vigorous work the committee is

infernal pcrvcrseness of the ele
ments and lack of enthusiasm
among the students.
The tickets will bo out by next
Monday so every one might as
Voll l)e prepared to take one at
first, or ho will be bored to death
before tho week is over. There is
going to be no let up. Tho mem
bers of the committee are of the
opinion that tho students, as a
whole, have contributed very little
toward the support of athletics this
year and they intend to inaugurate
a campaign, which from a financial
standpoint, has not yet been
beaten. The committee is com
posed of Ralph Johnson, A. J.
Weaver, find Bert Forbes. Apply
to them for further information.
Betas Stagged.
Saturday evening the Delta Tail
Delhi chapter house was tho scene
of ji delightful stag party given to
the 13etu traternity.
Tho evening wis spent in cards
followed by songs and dancing.
A novel feature of the entertain
ment was a glove contest between
Mr. Robinson and Mr. AVhitmore.
In nine hard-fought rounds Mr.
Whitniore proved himself tho best
man.
This is said to bo tho first time
either of tho contestants over saw
boxing gloves.
The guests were Messrs. Adams,
Becher, Ames, Cooley, Forbes,
Thorp, Robinson, Burnet, Everett,
Lehman, Nicholson, Graham, Sum
mers, and McLucas.
"Friday evening Russell Thorp,
Jr., of Edgewood, S. D., was in
itiated into the Beta Thota Pi fra
ternity, following the initiation
was a charming "spread" at which
many admirers wore present.
The Artists' Recitals.
