ASUN from page 1 “Newspapers are different than any other business because you can't make a pre diction about how much adver tising money you’ll make every month,” he said. Next year, the newspaper will have more competition for advertisers, Willbanks said. This is because the residence halls will be offering three newspa I ‘ pers to dorm residents for a fee that is included in their rent Dan Shattil, Daily Nebraskan general manager, said advertising revenue so far this year is down $80,000 from last year. He said die newspaper expected less revenue, but it only budgeted for a $20,000 loss. “Student fees stabilize our budget," he said. “If you're going to cut our funding, now is not die time to do it with all the eco nomic concerns and our adver tising revenue going downhill." The bylaw made changes to four chapters of the ASUN bylaws. One major change is ASUN senators will not be required to attend every meeting of the stu dent organizations with which they are required to keep in con tact Each senator is assigned to six organizations. However, the senators are still required to maintain good communication with the organ izations. Another change is some ASUN organizations that are no longer useful were cut, Schafer said. One of the committees being cut is the Student Impact Team. The team was geared toward getting freshman acquainted with student government, Schafer said. Candace Cain, Teachers College senator, questioned why the SIT committee was being cut Cecily Rometo, Student Impact Team chairwoman, said the committee doesn’t get much done because it doesn’t have a real purpose other than to get freshman acquainted with ASUN. The organization could shine a bad light on ASUN because it accomplishes little and is linked to student govern ment "It can put a bad face on ASUN," she said. Another big change is that ASUN will pay a person to be a •J Graduating? “SENIOR SALUTE” All Your Graduation Needs In One Place •Purchase Cap & Gown • Personalize Announcements • Order Class Rings from Jostens •Speak with the Alumni Association • Get Graduate Studies Information • Find a Career with Job Services March 27 & 28,2001 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. NE Student Union Ballroom ■ 3 bedroom, 2+ garage, 1 bathroom and laundry room only $750.2301E Sheet 432-6476. 1910-20 J Street, 1 ft 2 bedrooms, $340 and $440/month.
