Campus rec logo to get new look ■ A $200 savings bond will be given to the student with the winning design. BY JILL CONNER After 20 years of the same look, the Office of Campus Recreation wants to find a new style - new style of logo that is. By offering students a $200 savings bond for the best Campus Recreation Center logo design. Assistant Director for Marketing and Development, Christopher Dulak said he hoped to find a logo that encompassed all the programs the Campus Recreation Center offered. “It will be a defining element for all of our programs to use,” he said. Keenan McRoberts, presi dent of the Campus Recreation Advisory Council said programs like fitness classes, injury pre vention care, and outdoor pro grams were sometimes over looked. “There's a number of differ ent things that fall under cam pus recreation - hopefully the logo will be representative of different things,” McRoberts said. The new logo will appear on promotional items such as cam pus rec calendars, mailings. T shirts and the center’s Web site, he said. The deadline for entries is April 17, to allow time for the new logo to be incorporated into the system during the sum mer, he said. Dulak said because all stu dents pay a fee for the center regardless if they use it, the con test was open to all students, although it provided a great opportunity for design students to develop their skills. Dulak said he had worked for campus rec eight months and had rarely ever seen the cur rent logo used. McRoberts, agreed. “Its not really eye-catching, we just wanted to improve that," McRoberts said. McRoberts said the current logo was the outline of a con nected C and R. “If you don’t know what you’re looking at, you probably wouldn't know what it w-as,” he said. “I’m just hoping we ll get some good participation from some of the students, some thing eye catching, definitely representative of the campus recreation. “As far as what logos will be submitted remains to be seen, but we re hoping to improve on what we have.” he said.
