Faith stregthened by disease PRENZLOW from page 1 rough times and openness in talk ing about hydrocephalus enabled them to help other families they met by spreading hope. “You get to bond with each other, give hope to each other,” John Prenzlow said of families they have met in hospitals in Omaha. “You appreciate life so much more. It’s not the material things you look at It’s life itself.” Adam Prenzlow said in addi tion to his constant base of family support, his faith also kept him positive. “My faith’s grown so strong,” he said. His parents said he never lost that faith or determination, attending church even when he had to be helped inside. Now Prenzlow is making up for lost time, completing work for classes this semester and those he didn’t finish last semester. He said he would like to become a mete orologist “I’ve always been interested in the weather,” he said, adding that he hopes to get to a book about tornadoes as soon as he finishes Fyodor Dostoevsky’s “The Brothers Karamozov.” Prenzlow said hydrocephalus was just something he has and that it doesn’t deter him from friends, parties, his love for sports or his college independence. He encouraged students to stay strong in the face of adversity and remember to make the most of each day. “Stick with the people that are closest to you," he said. “Never let (anything) get you down. It all works out in the end.” Lincoln statue loaned to Sheldon STATUE from pagel jellyfish researcher working at the University of Nebraska Lincoln. The visit led to a trip to the Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery. Slobodkin said he was so impressed with the quality of the Sheldon’s sculpture collection and with the fact that so many of the sculpture artists had been his father’s friends that he decided to donate the statue to the Sheldon Gallery. Dan Siedell, curator at the Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery, ■ 1 said "The Rail Joiner" is on per manent loan to the city of Lincoln. The Sheldon has the cast for the statue in storage. The bronze version was cast this fall and placed in front of the new city countybuilding. In the late 1920s Louis Slobodkin created some of the capitol building’s sculpture ornaments under master sculp tor Lee Lawrie. "I felt it was appropriate the statue should have a home in the city where my father once worked,” Slobodkin said. Nathan Fuerst, Score! presi dential candidate, said he didn't mind that Matzen used one of his party's ideas. In fact, Fuerst said he would like to sit down and talk to Matzen to discuss their ideas. Fuerst said Matzen’s idea isn't too far from his own party platform. The group proposed a book exchange to be conducted in die bookstore, but eventually it would go online. “People in the campaign are big enough to say this is a good idea,” Fuerst said “When we both agree, there's a better chance that we can make this work." jyriat Center Caring about mothers and their babies. 4247 “0" Street Lincoln, NE 68510 (402)483-4247 www.hncoktcnsjspfegnancy.com Get a HEt 8 oz.
