Werner said Dant’s determination keeps the
team strong.
"There are days when you don’t feel like mov
ing, and I’m glad we’re in class together,” Werner
said. “Megan is a self-driven person. We keep each
other going.”
Instead of heading for the spotlights of New
York or Hollywood after graduation, Dant said she
would probably move to Oregon, where her par
ents live.
“I wouldn’t want to go to New York because
everybody’s trying to do what I’m doing. And in
California, I would just be another Hollywood
look-alike,” Dant said. "But in the northwest, there
are new companies and new money that need peo
ple like me.”
Dant said fame might come in time for her
career as a dancer, but only time would tell.
“I see a lot of my friends from North Carolina in
magazines,” she said. “But one day, when I was
driving my car, it just hit me that I wasn’t going to

be famous. It just wasn’t going to happen. But
maybe someday. You never know.”
But those who know'Megan are sure that her
time in the spotlight is not far away.
Fusillo said of Dant: "She is a wonderful, won
derful person and above all, a wonderful artist and
beautiful dancer. Megan doesn’t have to step on
other people’s toes to get ahead. She has strength
of character, as well as body."
Werner agreed that Dant’s integrity and dedica
tion would take her far, no matter where she is.
“It’s hard to say exactly what Megan will be
doing,” she said, “but there is a place for her in the
dance world."
