plague Vedral's trial
TRIAL from pagel
At Kelsay’s house, he and
the woman socialized with the
others at the party briefly. That
was when the woman first met
Vedral.
Then Kelsay and the
woman went downstairs to
Kelsay’s room where the two
had sex in the early morning
hours of May 6.
The jury must decide what
happened during the next few
hours of that night. At one
point Vedral came into Kelsay’s
room and had a brief sexual
encounter with the woman
before she pushed Vedral off of
her and asked him to stop.
Vedral’s roommates who
were home that night, Keith
Vanden Bosch and Chris
Kelsay, both testified
Wednesday, as did next-door
neighbors Jason Schwab and
Matt Hickey.
At the time of the alleged
sexual assault, Kelsay was tak
ing another friend home from
the party.
After the encounter with
Vedral, the woman searched
the duplex for Kelsay before she
was rattled by Vanden Bosch
and fled next door.
The woman testified she
was hysterical during her
search, but the men who |
encountered her at that point
did not describe her that way.
She was not until she found
refuge in the house next door,
said Schwab, who found the
woman sobbing in his kitchen
after she had let herself in.
While at Schwab's, the
woman called friends and was
able to talk to Kelsay because
he had returned home.
After the woman left with
friends to go to the hospital and
report the alleged rape, Kelsay,
Schwab and Hickey returned to
Kelsay’s home and asked both
Vanden Bosch and Vedral if
either of them had sex with the
woman.
Vedral told them that he
had, but she asked him to stop.
Kelsay, Schwab and Hickey all
testified that Vedral was sur
prised to learn that the woman
was planning to file charges.
The prosecution is expect
ed to conclude its case this
morning, though most of the
principal witnesses have
already testified. The defense
will start its case this afternoon.
