Schiflett and her husband rescued the car’s body, which was used during World War II, from a bam in Montana. Its a family thing. We all do it together,” she said. The event also entertained crowds with a model car contest, jugglers, barbershop quartets, a craft show, pig racing, Antique display and more than 100 ven dor^ Essman said Saturday’s attendance broke a 1968 record for most spectators at a non-State Fair event, although event offi Charges filed in cruise fatality from Staff reports A Nigerian refugee was charged with manslaughter Tuesday in the death of a Firth woman watching the Americruise hot rods last weekend. Authorities said Anthony Waadah, 30, lost control of his 1992 Ford Taurus while driving west on O Street Saturday night. The car veered into a crowded parking lot between 35,h and 37th streets, and pinned Connie S. McCullough, 39, against a tree. Waadah is being held in Lancaster County Jail on $100,000 bond, and is sched uled to appear again in court Aug. 17. cials won’t have official numbers until next week. “This event brings about $ 1.5 million to the city in a three-day period with hotel, retail, restau rant and gas sales,” Essman said. “And we did such a good job this year, we’ve bagged the event for next year, too.” Americruise will return to Lincoln on July 27-29, 2001, Essman said, and interested car gurus can get more information in Rod and Custom Magazine or call the Lincoln/Lancaster County Convention and Visitors Bureau at 434- 5335. He wants to kill the best thing they’ve got: Ghost Dog, the most excel lent hit man. It seems the mafia’s life cir cles around dying and dealing with the consequences and in “Ghost Dog”, Jarmusch makes mob life seem uncool and wordi less unlike most other mob flicks where they are the supreme icon of power and money (i.e. making diem cool). There is an intriguing subtext involving vintage cartoons as action takes place on die screen.. The viewer gets a glimpse of the immediate past or future from a character who is watching a car toon in an odd twist on reality. The cartoon shows what is going to happen (or has happened) in the real screen life of Ghost Dog and company. Though I did not like this film as much as Jarmusch's last, “Dead Man”, it was quite well written but not so beautifully acted. Whitaker does all right, as do the others on screen, but none shine too bright However, this does not stop the film from reeking with uniqueness and showing a flavor that is not too often seen on the screen. ★★★!/!
