    Municipal band, jazz night
offer musical fix for Lincoln

And the bands played on. And
on and on.
If you are beginning to feel a
sense of longing now that the Jazz
in June series will conclude
tonight, fret not Just change your
bearing for Antelope Park and try
to hold out until Sunday night,
because the bands will play on.
Arts Incorporated, a non
profit Lincoln organization
designed to bring local artists
together, has a summer concert
schedule that just might fix your
musical jones.
Beginning July 2, and contin
uing each Sunday until August
27, die Lincoln Municipal Band
will begin their summer concert
season at Schildneck Bandshell
in Antelope Park.
The band will feature a differ
ent thane and a rotation of local
musicians and vocalists at each
concert, according to Geoffrey
Lear, the group’s manager. In
addition, guest conductors will
take turns directing the 34-mem

Among the featured perform
ers are longtime local music pro
fessionals such as trombonist
Terry Rush and vocalist Annette
Murrell. Rush, Brian Pfoltner,
Bob Krueger and Jack Snider will
all conduct, Lear said. Each per
formance begins at 7 p.m.
Don’t rest too much though,
because you may want to be back
again Monday night, particularly
if you like jazz in its natural set
ting.
Another Arts Incorporated
series, Monday Night Jazz, actu
ally found inspiration in the infor
mal open jam sessions that began
in New York clubs several years
ago, according to Kim Vance,
events coordinator for Arts
Incorporated.
The series encourages mem
bers of the audience to sit in with
