H2 \ -V i A 19-year-old Lincoln ted Monday after being identified for thefts in two University of Nebraska-Lincoln buildings. Letice S. Evans was arrested at the Campus Recreation Center about 11 a.m. Monday. Evans was identified in a lineup by witnesses after her arrest for two purse theft incidents at Benton and Hamilton halls. Evans also was arrested for a warrant issued in 1997 for theft. Chancellor James Moeser thanked the sen ate for helping steer the university during the past several years. “I think this university is on a positive track, and I will watch the University of Nebraska with the greatest interest and the greatest pride,” said Moeser, who will leave UNL in July and go to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Gail Latta, who has been the Academic Senate president; thanked the senate for a pro--’; ductive session* “We have taken great strides this year in reasserting the faculty role in institutional deci sion-making,” Latta said in a memo to senators. “We have had early and significant impact on setting institutional priorities and ensuring that faculty are involved early in planning,” she said. Sheila Scheideler, professor of animal sci ence, will serve as senate president for the 2000 01 academic year. Senators elected the other officers for 2000 01 at the meeting, as well. Those elected were Miles Bryan, president elect; David Jackson, secretary; Darrel Siekman, executive committee extension educa tor; Teresita Agtirilar 3Q(P>helley Fuller, execu tive committee members; and Margaret Mering ; and Tom Powers, committee on committees members. The senate also: ■ heard committee reports from the faculty compensation advisory, honors convocation, teaching council and executive committees; ■ approved the executive committee’s rec ommendation to withdraw a resolution on class notes; ■ approved the executive committee’s rec ommendation to postpone action on a student absence policy form resolution; and ■ presented the James A.
