Man arrested for burglary
Neighbors spotted a suspicious man
around a house Sunday.
The man was found by police car
rying a television out of the house.
Mario Contreras, 42, was arrested
for burglary of a house at 1960
Harrison Ave., Beam said.
Contreras was seen by neighbors
walking in and out of a house between
9:50 and 10:05 p.m. The neighbors
contacted police, Beam said.
When police arrived they saw
Contreras walking to a car with a
Magnavox color television that was
covered by a blanket, Beam said.
Beam said Contreras stole items
totaling $6,600.
Two injured in house fire
A man received second-degree
bums on his hands, knees and feet in a
house fire that inspectors said they
believed was intentionally set Sunday.
Herman Jones and Ruth Stanford
were at the house at 1612 Rosalyn
Terrace at about 12:40 a.m. when they
heard a loud noise and noticed the fire,
Lincoln Police Sgt. Todd Beam said.
Stanford escaped with a bump on
her head, but Jones was burned.
Jones was sent to Saint Elizabeth
Regional Medical Center, where he is
being treated and was in good condition
as of Monday evening.
The fire caused $23,000 damage.
Lincoln Fire Inspector James Ellis
told police the fire was intentionally
started on the front porch and spread to
the living room, Beam said.
Lincoln Police Capt. David Beggs
said police don’t have a suspect.
Man arrested for indecent
exposure at Subway
A man was arrested Saturday for
indecent exposure at Subway after ask
ing for more napkins.
The man pulled into the drive
through at Subway, 10th and High
streets, at about 12:10 p.m. and ordered
a drink, Beam said.
He then asked the clerk for napkins,
which she gave him, Beam said. But the
man said he wanted more napkins.
When the woman returned with
more napkins, she saw the man had his
erect penis exposed and was masturbat
ing, Beam said.
Police were contacted and arrested
Bruce Burris, 730 Smoky Hill Road,
for indecent exposure, Beam said.
A similar incident occurred Feb. 24
at the Subway at 2929 State Fair Park
Road.
