Gloomy feel makes ‘Affair’ predicatble

Game.” All of the actors brood quite
nicely onscreen, especially Fiennes,
who has made a living off such roles.
Moore has a complicated role as a
woman trapped between her lover and
the promise she made to leave him.
She’s always been a dazzling facial
actor, one that could change the look in
her eyes as the scene sees fit As usual,
Moore’s performance is one of the
film’s better compliments.
If only the entire proceeding didn’t
feel so gloomy - the soundtrack, the
lighting, die dour speaking voices - we
wouldn’t know within minutes of its
beginning that “The End of Affair” will
end with some sort of tragedy to
accompany it This story is unftirled in
a highly intelligent fashion, but it’s still
predictable.
It makes for a much longer, tougher
movie experience in the process. This
one hour and 45-minute movie feels at
least 30 minutes longer.
So, as well-made as “The End of
the Affair” is, it’s disappointing. It’s
worse than when the villain ends up on
top in an action movie; this time
around, lifelong pain and suffering tri
umphs.
