No suspects found In sexual
Police have no suspects in a sexual
assault in the Near South neighborhood
of Lincoln on Thursday.
A 38-year-old Lincoln woman was

Thursday near 12th and E streets and
was knocked unconscious from behind,
Ofc. Katherine Finnell Said.
She awoke in the side yard of the old
F Street Recreation Center without
pants on. She did not kncfar how much
time had passed since she was attacked.
She reported the assault to police
Thursday morning, Finnell said.
Because the woman was struck
from behind, she did not see her attack
er and could not tell how many attackers
Police have not yet determined the
degree of sexual assault.

Road, was broken into Thursday morn
ing, in a similar manner as three other
burglaries last Wednesday, Finnell said.
A brick was thrown through the
glass door for the burglars to gain
entrance. Last week Colby Ridge
Popcorn at 4240 S. 48th St., Mr.
Goodcents Subs and Pasta at 4333 S.
70th Suite 1 and Williams Cleaners in
Suite 8 of the same address as Mr.
Goodcents were all burglarized after
bricks were thrown through glass doors.
Police say they think the three are

$1,048 and a total of $225 in damages.
Because of die location and manner
of entry, Finnell said, the latest burglary
may be connected to the others.
South Street liquor robbed
South Street Liquor at 1000 South
St. was broken into at 4 a.m. Friday.
A witness told police a newer black
or dark brown vehicle pulled up to the
store.Three males in trench coats and
black stocking caps, along with one
female in her late teens with long brown
hair also wearing a trench coat, threw a
25-pound dumbbell through the glass to
gain access, the witness said.
The burglars got away with four
cases of beer and one bottle of liquor.
They were seen going north on 10th
Street and turned east on Plum Street.
Woman found dead in apartment
A Lincoln woman was found dead
in an apartment last Saturday and her
body could have been there for up to two
months, police said.
The woman’s identity, cause of her
death and when she died were unknown,
however police hope autopsy and toxi
cology reports will answer the ques
tions, said Asst. Lincoln Police Chief
Peschong said the body was found
at 1912 Garfield, Apt. 2, around noon.
An autopsy was performed
Monday. Police said the toxicology
report could take up to two weeks to
Man suspected of taping high
school shower area
A high school referee from Lincoln
was arrested Friday on suspicion of
videotaping high school players in the
locker room and shower area.
Christian Stasenka, 31, was arrested
for unlawful intrusion and faces up to
three months in jail and or a $500 fine.
Students at Waverly High School
noticed during a Jan. 8 basketball game
that a man had placed a video camera
inside a duffel bag facing the shower
area, according to a report released by
the Lancaster County Sheriff’s office.
After further investigation at a boys’
basketball game, Lincoln Pius X High
School vs. Elkhom High School, on
Friday, officers had enough information
to arrest Stasenka after the game.
Stasenka was released from the
Lancaster County Jail on Saturday after
posting 10 percent of a $500 bond
Interstate accident claims life
Slick roads contributed to accidents
Monday morning, including a fatal
motor vehicle accident on Interstate 80.
At about 4:47 a.m., a Plymouth
minivan was headed east when the dri
ver lost control, went into a ditch and
rolled several times and landed on its
top, said SheriffTerry Wagner.
There were 11 illegal immigrants in
the van plus a driver. It was reportedly
en route from Phoenix to Minneapolis.
The driver fled on foot and has not
been found, and nine of the 11 passen
gers were sent to the hospital.
Of the four passengers sent to
BryanLGH West Medical Center, a
female died from injuries, a male is in
critical condition and two others were
treated and released.

and transported to BryanLGH East, one
was admitted in serious but stable con
The Immigration and
Naturalization Service placed detainers
on the passengers not admitted to the
hospital, and they have been jailed.
