“It was one bad year, and I’m
sure other people have had bad years
before. I was looking to put that one
bad year behind me and begin the
process of putting a good one under
my belt”
Hie junior has stood tall this year
among the nation’s best, too. He has
compiled a 5-2 record vs. ranked
opponents and both losses were two
point decisions.
Since the season-opening loss,
McTorry has won 14 of 17 matches
including two pins, and has lost only
twice since Dec. 4. He was named
Big 12 wrestler of the week once and
was honored as the Most
Outstanding Wrestler at the Great
Plains Open, in which he took the
184-pound tide.
“I wouldn’t even know if I would
say this year is a surprise to me,”
McTorry said. “I’m just doingwhat I
always expected to do. I never would,
have wrestled if I didn’t expect to do
well. I had other options.”

McTorry said he is proud to be where
he is at this point in his career.

opportunity to provide entertainment
for the Nebraska wrestling fans,
since I didn’t last year.”
