Before you take off for the holidays, here is a little some thing from some of the DN photographers that we hope will bring a smile to your face. Sometimes in-between the action that photojoumalists shoot daily, a little serendipity occurs in front of their lenses. Capturing moments such as these lighten up their darkroom. While waiting through a junior-varsity basketball game to shoot the varsity teams, Lane Hickenbottom noticed this pouncing panther painted on the wall of the Standish, Mich., gym. Hickenbottom found a high angle and waited for just the right moment in the close game when die coach’s reaction made him look likeHhe next feature in Pox TV’s “When Animals Attack.” During a visit to Chicago, Nate Wagner captured the juxta position he saw between a man leisurely walking down : ~ Michigan Avenue and a well-dressed cow doing the same. Wagner relied on his quick wit and fast reflexes to make the shot of the ceramic bovine from the back seat of a moving car. And last, it is hard to ignore the antics of Lil’ Red, even when MTV’s Tom Green isn’t inside the inflatable suit. Lil’ Red * is known for his acrobatic talents, and this night was no differ - ent. Photojoumalist Mike Warren made this photo when Red was doing one of his infamous side shows at a Husker volley ball game. None of these photos have ever been published, and we at the Daily Nebraskan thought that you might like them after you drink enough egg-nog. Happy Holidays. -Lane Hickenbottom/DN Photo at right by Nate Wagner .com A
