Wisconsin police find suspect By Jake Bleed Senior staff writer A man suspected of sexually assaulting two teen-age Lincoln girls Nov. 27 was arrested in Wisconsin on Saturday night after being involved in a bar fight. Lancaster County Sheriff Terry Wagner said police in Richland, Wis., are holding 32-year-old James Grupe, 6821 S.W. 12* St., until extradition can be arranged. Lancaster County Attorney Gary Lacey said he will request that Grupe be sent back to Nebraska to face charges of first-degree sexual assault. Wagner said two girls sneaked out of one of the girls’ houses and went over to Grupe’s home. After drinking alcohol with the 14- and 15 year-old girls, Grupe allegedly had _ sex with one and fondled another, Wagner said. Sheriff’s deputies investigating the crime wanted to interview Grupe but could not find him, Wagner said, leading deputies to get a warrant for Grupe’s arrest. “It was pretty obvious to us that he had fled the jurisdiction,” Wagner said. The warrant, issued Friday, came up a day later when police in Wisconsin ran Grupe’s name through a national criminal database, Wagner said. " Several warrants for Grupe’s arrestjiad also been issued in Wisconsin, Wagner said, fotburglary_ and other crimes. Wagner said Grupe might have family in the state. Grupe was released from the Nebraska State Penitentiary in September after serving four years on a charge of making terroristic threats. Wagner said Grupe was charged in 1995 with sexual assault but plea bargained down to making terroristic threats.
