There is something about play ing Kansas State that brings out the best in Nebraska sophomore qmr terback Eric Crouch. In last yeart 40-30 loss, Crouch rushed for a career-high 108 yards and threw for a career-high 1S6 yards. Satiuday, Crouch set records again for most rushing yards with 1S8 and most attempts with 27. His 158 yards was the most by a Nebraska player since Ahman Green recorded 206 in the 1998 Orange Bowl. Crouch now has rushed for more than 100 yards in four games, including his then career-best 137 yards last week against Texas A&M. ■ Rover Mike Brown continued his hot streak, picking off another pass and causing and recovering another fumble. Last week against A&M, he forced two fumbles and made two interceptions. He leads the team with four forced fumbles. ■ Nebraska continued to put die ball on the turf. Against Kansas State, the Huskers fumbled a school-record 10 times. However, NU lost only three of them. On die ;season, NU leads die nation in fum bles. Kansas State actually turned the ball over more times, losing all four of its fumbles and throwing *■ interception. - ■ In his first action other than mop-up duty, freshman Dahrran Diedrick showed moves that NU fans hadn’t seen in some time. He 6-foot, 215-pound freshman from Scarborough Ontario, rushed 14 times for 93 yards, including a career-best 46-yard TD ran in the fourth quarter that was reminbceBt of another I-back who wore No. 30 a couple years ago. On the tramn, Diedrick now has 54 carries for 307 yards. ~ ■ The Nebraska special teams blocked a field goal and two pants Saturday. In die first quarter; Kyle Vanden Bosch blocked a 35-yard field goal attempt by Jamie Rhean. It was his third block in two games. Randy Stella’s second punt Mock of the season gave NU a 9-0 lead m the first quarter. Then, in die third quarter, Keyuo Craver Mocked his second kick of the year. On the sea son, the Huskers have blocked three field goals and six punts. ■ With the win, Nebraska has now defeated Kansas State 16 straight times in Lincoln and 29 oat of the last 30 games.
