School of Music presents Hugo Wolfs Morike Songs' WOLF from page 12 focus on his Morike songs. “Wolf’s music clearly hits to the point of the poems,” Friend said. “His music finds the mood of the poetry.” To help explain that mood, a week end full of symposium events will pro ceed Sunday’s concert. The symposium will begin at 7 p.m. today with William Shomos giv ing an introduction to the weekend. Five UNL students singing five of Wolf’s songs will follow at 7:30 p.m. They will be coached by Friend. Saturday will feature lectures by faculty members Robert Shirer and Joseph Kraus. Guest lecturers will be David Breckbill, reviewer for BBC Music Magazine, and Susan Youens, author and professor of musicology at the University of Notre Dame. Youens will also give a pre-perfor mance lecture on Sunday. “We have some of the top interna tional experts explaining the concert,” Shomos said. “The talks will intro duce people to the poet and compos er.” Shomos said the lectures before the concert were important so people can understand how Wolf’s songs delivered the message of Morike’s work. He said Morike’s songs “explore all facets of what it is to be a human being.” oeli-Kighteous Brothers to perform at Zoo Bar They dress in white tuxedos. They claim to be from Scotland. And they have a song titled “Have Fun With Your Penis.” They can only be the Self Righteous Brothers. This weekend, the Self-Righteous Brothers bring their outrageous, comical rock to the Zoo Bar, 136 N. 14th St. With names such as Trendy McFadden, Sweet Basil McJagger and Donny McRonald, the group is known for its tongue-in-cheek humor. They claim to hail from Weatherbee, Scotland, and their biographies detail a facetious, “tear jerking” tale of childhood abandon ment and poverty. Supposedly, Sunny and Mr. Righteous, the band’s two vocalists, are half twins by the same mother (different fathers) who abandoned them at an early age. Their child hoods introduced them to the life of “hard scotch,” but luckily the two hooked up with McJagger, McKonald, Mcradden, ulom McConoco and Chester McDrawers. Fame was close at hand. The group’s tongue-in-cheek humor carries over into their songs, which poke fun at sex, romance and mastuibation. The band’s 1998 album, “Tastee,” includes songs such as “Have Fun With Your Penis,” “New Monkey ' Skin Jacket” and a cover of Tom Jones’ “She’s A Lady.” The Self-Righteous Brothers play tonight and Saturday, starting between 9 and 9:30 p.m. The cover charge is $5.
