AmeriCorps members work within public elementary
schools to provide tutoring, mentoring and
family outreach, and to assist in the creation and im
plementation of academically-enriched after school
and summer programming. Members also serve as
community leaders, developing community events and
partnerships designed to enhance the quality of life for

In addition to an excellent training package, leadership
development opportunities, deferment of govern
ment-guaranteed student loans, and a chance to make
a real difference in their communities, CSHI
AmeriCorps members also receive the following bene
fits: Full-Time: A living allowance of $8,730 and an ed
