The tunnel music makes the hairs on the
back of his neck stand up.
The stands are filled with 76,000
screaming fans, which gives him goose
bumps.
It is almost kickoff time at a Nebraska
football game, and the 8-foot-tall Lil’ Red -
a.k.a Brad Post - is dancing on the field.

University of Nebraska-Lincoln sporting

events since 1993, is performed this year by
four UNL students, including Post, creating
immense popularity for the mascot by focus
ing on making people happy.
This enthusiasm for the people won the
students first place in the National
Cheerleaders Association College Mascot
Competition held in Daytona Beach, Fla., on
April 3.
When Post came to the UNL in the
spring of 1995, he had no intentions of
becoming the university’s mascot.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - In a lecture at the U.S. Naval
Academy on Wednesday, Republican presidential hopeful
Elizabeth Dole called for tougher U.S. resolve in evicting
Yugoslav forces from Kosovo and ending oppression of eth
nic Albanians.
“Tonight I call on President Clinton to rally our nation,
strengthen our international coalitions and build up the forces
necessary to win the war,” she said. “If the NATO comman
ders and the Joint Chiefs of Staff feel it is necessary to send in
ground forces, I would certainly support that.”
Dole, who has signaled her intention to seek the 2000
GOP presidential nomination but has not formally
announced her candidacy, addressed all 4,0Q0 midshipmen at
the U.S. Naval Academy. Her audience also included dele
gates to the Naval Academy Foreign Affairs Conference,
which drew more than 250 participants from colleges across
the United States and around the world.
Dole’s call for NATO and the United States to “win the
war,” even if that requires committing U.S. ground forces in
Kosovo, echoed earlier calls by Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.,
another presidential contender.
The Clinton Administration has said it would commit
ground forces only to defend a Kosovo peace agreement,
which remains elusive.
