Public Relations/Marketing Intern: assist with writing
news releases, planning and executing various new
conferences and media events; special event and pro
motion planning and execution; research and writing
material for various publications; database manage
ment; consumer, retailer and media relations; and ad
vertising. REQUIREMENTS: Majoring in Public Rela
tions, Communications, Advertising, or Marketing, junior
year or above, excellent written and verbal commu
nication skills, basic understanding of marketing prin
ciples. Experience with still and video photography,
word processing, spreadsheets and presentations
software would be helpful (WordPerfect, QuattroPro,
Paradox for Windows, and PowerPoint).
Graphic Design/Marketing Intern: Assist with elements
of marketing the Lottery, including publication and
point-of-sale design; web page design and editing;
new product development and promotion; database
management and research; event and promotions
planning and execution; consumer and retailer relations
and advertising. REQUIREMENTS: Majoring in
Advertising, junior year or above, excellent written and
verbal communication skills; basic understanding of
marketing principles. Experience with Macintosh sys
tems and graphics software.
Both positions require willingness to work extra hours
including weekends (if needed), must be self-starter,
hard worker, and some travel may be required. As an
employee of the Lottery Division, all prospective em
ployees must undergo and extensive personal back
ground investigation to determine if candidate meets
integrity expectations. Valid Nebraska driver’s license
required and ability to completer the State of Nebraska's
Defensive Driving Course.

The summer editor in chief will formulate editorial policies,
determine guidelines for the daily operation of the newsroom, hire
the senior editorial staff, help determine the content of the
newspaper and prepare the editorial wage budget. Applicants must
have one year of newspaper experience, preferably at the Daily
Nebraskan. The paper is published weekly during the two five-week
summer sessions plus a back-to-school and a New Student issue.
The editor earns $2000 for the summer and reports to the UNL Publications
Board. The editor must be enrolled in at least six credit hours at UNL this spring,
summer or fall, maintain a 2.0 minimum G.P.A., and not be on academic probation. Applications are
available at the Daily Nebraskan office, basement of the Nebraska Union, and must be returned with up to
five clips by noon March 22.
