Game show draws
graduate to compete
‘Price is Right’ lets Lincolnite ‘come on down’
By Ashley Anderson
Staff writer
Dreams of winning cash and
prizes, the itch to spin the big wheel
and the lure to “come on down” are
all more than enough to draw many
people to participate in television
game shows.
For Tami Feit, a recent University
ofNebraska-Lincoln graduate, a life
long love for “The Price is Right”
motivated her to vie for an appear
ance on the show.
Feit traveled to Los Angeles in
February to play the game, and her
appearance will air Monday at 10
a.m.
“I’ve watched ‘The Price is
Right’ since I was little,” Feit said.
“It’s always been a goal of mine to
appear on the show.”
According to her fiance, Alex
Williams, Feit’s love of the game pro
gressed beyond childhood.
“When she was a (UNL) New
Student Enrollment leader, she taped
the show while she gave tours,”
Williams said. “When she came back
at night, she watched it fairly reli
giously.”
The day Feit was to see the show,

she arrived at the studio at 5:30 a.m.,
along with other game-show hope
fuls.
Feit received a stand-by ticket to
sit in the audience - part of a lengthy
process - but didn’t expect to com
pete in the show.
Much to her surprise, Feit was
one of the first four people that Bob
Barker called to die floor to compete.
“I have never experienced that
much intensity and nervousness as
when he called me down,” Feit said.
She won her first game and
advanced to the Big Wheel round.
She needed to beat the 75-cent spin of
a previous competitor to advance to
the next phase in the game.
Feit’s 85-cent spin landed her a
place in the Showcase Showdown.
Before Feit left for Los Angeles in
February, Williams joked that if she
won a motor home in the Showdown,
they would sell it for cash.
Sure enough, Feit’s Showcase
package included a motor home.
Williams said he couldn’t believe
the coincidence.
Although Feit didn’t win the
Showcase Showdown, she has fond
memories of being a contestant on
“The Price is Right.”
“I always promised myself that I’d
never do anything dumb, but I ended
up kissing Bob Barker on the cheek,”
she said.
Besides getting the chance to kiss
Barker, Feit won a go-cart and a com
puter.
According to Williams, Feit never
doubted that she would appear on the
show.
“It was something she always
talked about,” Williams said. “She
always said, ‘When I get on “The
Price is Right,”’ not ‘If I get on.’”
