WENT COVERS her teary eyes during her most hated exercise, the wall slide, during her first rehabilitation session in the Bob Devaney Sports Center’s training room. For the wall slide exercise, Went rested her heel against the wall and let gravity make her leg flex. “I couldn’t lift [the leg],” she said. “Right out of surgery, I had a therapy session and could not even lift my leg an inch off the ground. There were tears. It was hard not having control to lift it. It was painful.” ABOVE: AFTER THE TEAM RETURNED FROM KANSAS STATE, most players came to visit Went between her naps. But Went’s roommate, Lisa Bryan, stayed and slept all night in the chair next to Went. Earlier, in the elevator and on her way out of the hospital, Bryan decided she could not leave Went there alone that night. LEFT: SURROUNDED BY BASKETBALL POSTERS in her residence hall room, Went is consoled by her then-boyfriend, Chad Travers. Although the relationship has ended, Went said she appreci ated his support after her injury. “He was there when I was complaining or hurting. When I was n’t able to move around or get home, he came up to visit.” I Story continued on page 8
