Saturday's loss also ended
Nebraska's 46-game winning
streak in the month of October. The
last time the Huskers lost in
October was Oct. 25. 1986. in a 20
10 loss at Colorado.

The win for Texas A&M
marked the highest ranked team the
Aggies have defeated since the
1940 Sugar Bow l. In that game,
A&M defeated No. 4Tulane 14-13
to win the 1939 national champi
onship.
Incidentally, a halftime celebra
tion Saturday honored that same
1939 Aggie team.

beating seventh-ranked Louisiana
State 28-16 in 1989 in his first
game as the Aggies' head coach.
“No question about it,” Slocum
said. “This is the biggest win of my
career. Before this there was LSU
and some other big wins. But this is
great for what it does.”

top ten with its win over Nebraska
Saturday. The Aggies are No. 10 in
the Associated Press Poll, while
Nebraska was at No. 8. With
Kansas State ranked at No. 3, there
ft now three teams from the Big 12
Conference in the top ten for the
first time this season.
