ashington 7 ‘Bad, bad day’ for Huard, UW By David Wilson Senior staff writer As one of the last players to leave the Washington locker room, quarter back Brock Huard strolled down the ramp into the Shulte Fieldhouse with a box of Kentucky Fried Chicken in his hand. He was swarmed by about 30 media members and seven TV cameras as he took a seat on two Gatorade coolers. Microphones, tape recorders and lights were shoved in his face. But the chaos following eighth ranked Washington's 55-7 loss to No. 2 Nebraska on Saturday didn't faze him. He appeared calm. He spoke with confidence. He even laughed. "It was just a bad. bad day,” Huard said. “That's about all you can say. Nebraska was all they were cracked up to be. We weren't to their level by any means.” Despite suffering the school's worst loss since 1975. most of the Husky play ers shared in Huard's demeanor. Disappointment, however, was apparent as they grouped together with friends and family outside the stadium. Dressed in sport coats, they talked, they joked and they ate chicken. "You hurt because you just missed an opportunity,” Washington Coach Jim Lambright said. “You credit Nebraska first for what they did. and then you go about with pride putting your pieces back together as a team.
