The 1986 team finished 29-6 and
advanced to the national champi
onship game, losing to Pacific in the
finals. It was the first Nebraska team
to advance to the national champi
onship match.
“The 1986 was the first team to
take us to the Final Four, and eventual
ly all six players that started were All
Americans,” Pettit said. “This match
gives us a chance to recognize some
great players from the past, particular
ly from that 1986 team.”
Although the Alumni Match will
bring many current and former
Huskers together, Pettit said it will not
be entirely for fun.
“I don’t know if scrimmage is the
word; we’ll play this as if it is a regular
match,” Pettit said. “It gives us a
