Man arrested for DUI A Lincoln man was arrested for / driving under the influence Thursday night after three hit-and-run acci - dents along Comhusker Highway. ^ Police arrested 46-year-old James Higgins after he ran into a moving train that ended the string of |wrecks shortly before 10 p.m., | Heermann said. Higgins hit three other cars as he ■I drove down Cornhusker Highway £ from 28* Street to die train crossing & near 35* and Adams streets, causing £ minor damage to the other cars and g his own. | By the time he reached the train p crossing where another vehicle was r already stopped for the train, U Higgins’ right front tire had blown out and was dragging from the axle of his 1982 Mazda RX-7. j? Higgins drove around the car 1 stopped at the crossing, hitting it as ; he passed. Then Higgins drove around the lowered warning arm and into the h. moving train. Higgins’ car was totaled, but no : one was injured in any of the acci - dents. m | Gambling operation busted 4 Police broke up a small gambling h operation in Lincoln Thursday night. £ When police served a search war ’ rant at % house on the 1200 block of North 26th Street, they found five men gathered around a craps table f with cash in hand, Lincoln Police K Sgt. Police seized $229 cash, 40 decks I- of cards, 10 dice, a craps table and typveral poker tables** .uj^sL Two men, Otis ft Wardell Moore, 53, were arrested on second-degree charges of promoting gambling. & The three other men were cited | for engaging in gambling. Rodney A Gregory, 24, Thomas LaRose, 51, 4 and Girlie Hughes, 59, were aU cited. All of the men, except Gregory, are from Lincoln. Gregory is from ■Omaha. v Man cited for domestic assault One woman’s drunken boyfriend ; allegedly took a cinder block to her car Thursday night during a domestic dispute. g The woman arrived home, on the 1500 block of South 22nd Street, with f: her 9-year-old daughter shortly after ' 5 p.m. She found her live-in ^ boyfriend, Anthony Tyndall, 39, f' drunk, Heermann said. When Tyndall refused to leave, the woman decided to take her I* daughter away from the house. r’’ But when the woman and her H daughter got into the car to leave, *| Tyndall grabbed a cinder block and P started smashing the car. 1 v The woman and her daughter fled H through the alley while Tyndall con H tinued smashing the car.
