NU pounded out three homers in
the inning, including a grand slam by
third baseman Danny Kimura. Every
Husker starter managed to score in the
seventh except Harvey.
The Sooners answered in the top of
the eighth and tied the game at 12-12
with a three-run homer by OU lead-off
man Corey Hart.
After Starkins’ homer, NU closer
Tevis Arnold came on in the ninth and
recorded his seventh save of the sea
son. The win went to senior Brian
Zubor (1-0), and OU’s Kyle Denny (0
2) took the loss.
“That was a strange game - a lot of
changes in the weather and the lead,”
Arnold said. “Our guys did their job,
and I was able to do mine too.”

ing for the Rams, and hopefully we can
make it a third.”
Wistrom was joined in the first
round by defensive tackle Jason Peter,
who was drafted by Carolina with the
14th pick overall.
In the third round, former NU quar
terback Scott Frost was selected by the
New'York Jets with die 67th pick He is
expected to change positions from quar
terback to safety with the Jets, who were
8-8 last season and narrowly missed the
playoffs.
Ahman Green was selected seven
picks later by Seattle. The Seahawks,
who Green said were high on him all
along, plan to put Green behind proba
ble starter Ricky Watters, who was
picked up in the offseason.
Projected by some to be a first
round pick, Green said he was not dis
appointed by slipping to the third round.
“I’m not mad at all,” Green said. “I
just want to contribute wherever they
want me to. Seattle’s got a chance to be
in the playoffs so I’m happy.
Nebraska offensive guard Aaron
Taylor, selected in the seventh round,
will join No. 1 pick Peyton Manning
with the Indianapolis Colts.
“It’s a little disappointing that I fell
to the seventh round,” Taylor said, “but
I’m making money doing what I love,
so I’m happy.”
Eric Warfield also was selected in
the seventh round by Kansas City.
“They’re a very good team,”
Warfield said. “They only drafted one
defensive back, so I’ll get die chance to
play if I come in prepared.”
Green said the quality of the
Nebraska players selected was high and
he expects all of them to make an
impact in the NFL.
“We’re catching up with the Notre
Dames and the Florida States,” Green
said. “The NFL is starting to realize that
Nebraska’s got great players.”
