    Chase ends in arrest
A man led police on a prolonged
chase Thursday morning that started
in Lincoln and continued onto
Interstate 80.
Police stopped a car with two
people near 27“ and Superior streets
at about 4 a.m. Thursday, Lincoln
Police Capt Doug Soukup said.
While police were talking to the
driver outside the car, the passenger,
Kenneth Hamilton, slid behind the
wheel and took off.
Lincoln Police followed
Hamilton, 19, all the way to 1-80
where Lancaster County Sheriff
officers picked up the chase.
Lancaster and Sarpy County
deputies followed Hamilton through
Waverly and Gretna with the help of
a Nebraska State Patrol helicopter.
Sarpy County Deputies made
the arrest in Gretna to end the chase.
DWls issued on St. Pat’s
Police efforts to crack down on
drunken driving on St Patrick’s Day
yielded 10 DWI arrests.
The 10* arrest for driving while
intoxicated was made at 6 a.m.
Wednesday morning, Lincoln Police
Sgt. Ann Heermann said.
One officer made four arrests
during his eight-hour shift, which is
unusual because each arrest requires
a couple of hours to process.
Garage thief at large
Someone broke into eight cars
parked in a downtown parking
garage Wednesday.
Windows were broken out in the
eight cars parked on three different
levels of the garage, Gunny’s Ltd.,
Heermann said. The garage is at 13th
and P streets.
The thief took car stereos and
anything else in reach, totaling
$1,700. The damage to the cars is
estimated at $ 1,100.
Home burglarized
An unfinished home was bur
glarized Tuesday. Light fixtures and
tools were taken from the garage.
The thief entered the house at
1645 Prairie Lane through an
unlocked door and then forced his
way into the locked garage,
Heermann said.
Tools were valued at $920, and
there was $20 damage to the house.
