Weather causes woes From Staff Reports Tor the ninth and 10th consecu tive times this season, weather caused the cancellation of Nebraska baseball games. The Cornhuskers were scheduled to play a doubleheader today against Chicago State at Buck Beltzer Field. The games were canceled because snow remained on the field from a March 7 storm. Nebraska returns to action Monday when ihe Buskers travel to Honolulu for the Rainbow Faster Baseball Tournament. From Staff Reports Jamie Rogers picked up his sec ond win of the spring as the Nebraska men's golf team won the Cleveland Golf Collegiate Tuesday in Aiken. S.C. The Cornhuskers put together rounds of 290. 292 and 295 to shoot an 877 led by Rogers and Josh ! Madden, who added a third-place finish. Furman finished one stroke behind NU with rounds of 296, 293 and 289 for an 878. South Carolina Aiken and Duke tied for third with 895s and Charleston rounded out the top five at 898. wogers. wno aiso won me Huskers’ first competition of the spring Feb. 23-24, shot rounds of 70, 75 and 70 to w in the tournament with a two-over-par 215. Brian Scurlock of Furman shot rounds of 74, 70 and 72 to post a second-place 216. Madden earned his second top three finish of the season finishing third with rounds of 74, 71 and 72 for a 217. “We knew' what we were capable of,” Madden said. “We just had to prove it We need to show we have what it takes to win.” Steve Friesen also recorded a top 10 finish for Nebraska as he put rounds of 69, 73 and 78 together for a seventh-place 220. Scott Gutschewski finished 19th w ith a 225 and Peter Smith finished 43rd with a 234. Though they managed to win the tournament, the Huskers struggled during the last day. NU led Furman by seven strokes before the final round. “Overall, I think we’ve done extremely well,” Rogers said. “The only thing we need to work on is fin ishing off the tournaments. When we’ve got them dowm. we’ve got to keep them down. We have to domi nate that last day.” Nebraska returns to action March 28-29 at the Dr. Pepper Intercollegiate in Pottsboro, Texas.
