But no matter who the Huskers sign, Nebraska is going to have a diffi cult time replacing the leadership the senior class brought to the program this season. “We lose three really key perform ers and two who added a lot to the chemistry in this team,” Sanderford said. DeForge finished her career as the No. 4 all-time scorer in Nebraska his tory and was twice named first-team All-Big 12 and honorable mention All American. Although DeForge will probably play basketball at the professional level, Sanderford and her former coach Angela Beck, who is with the American Basketball League’s San Jose Lasers, both said she knows things will never be this way again. “I’ll never have teammates like this again,” DeForge said. “This is some thing that is never going to be replaced.” Although the competitive Sanderford was disappointed that he was going to be making a trip to Salma, Kan., for the junior college tournament instead of taking the Huskers to Dayton, Ohio, for the NCAA Tournament, he did realize the Nebraska women's basketball program exceeded his expectations this season. Twice this season Nebraska broke single-game attendance records at the Bob Devaney Sports Center with more than 12,000 fans attending the season finale against Iowa State. Nebraska also broke its single-season attendance record, averaging 3,452 fans. “I don't think women’s basketball has ever been as visible in the state as it is now,” Sanderford said. “Now' we got to go to work and try to get it better.” ^knew j l A physician or physician * • assistant, registered nurse • • and a certified lab tech are • l available during all * I East Campus l • Health Clinic • • hours! • • Counseling appointments Open POOP to 3 p.m., m • available Tuesdays, 8 a.m. to Noon.
