ed in cooperation with Lewis and
Susan Cuppet, who conducted the
taste tests with funding from the
North Dakota Oil Seed Council and
the U.S. Flax Institute.
Although Omega eggs’ health
benefits make them appealing, their
taste likely will decide whether they
will succeed at the grocery store.
Scheideler said the unique fatty
acids in the eggs can produce a slight
“fishy taste in exceptionally taste
sensitive people.”
But manipulating the taste and
texture of Omega eggs is “very do
able,” she said.
Curtis Novak, a graduate student
in poultry nutrition who worked
extensively on Scheideler’s project,
said he could not tell any difference
between Omega eggs and other “nor
mal” eggs he has eaten.
“They just taste good.”

Slow ride
Driver’s education courses don’t
teach you how to drive a stick shift
like this one: a Bobcat front-end
loader.
After construction workers failed
to lock one of their Bobcats inside the
chain-link fence around the Nebraska
Union, someone took it for a joyride
across campus Friday, University
Police Sgt. Mylo Bushing said.
Whoever was driving must have
learned quickly because no damage
was caused.
The loader was found in front of
Henzlik Hall later that afternoon.
One of the construction workers took
the loader back to its chain-link
home.
